We're very pleased to announce that RhinoBanga, author of the PlayingNow plug-in has agreed to work more closely with JRiver. We expect that part of his contribution will be on plug-ins, beginning with a Last.fm plug-in.
As part of our agreement, we've purchased the PlayingNow plug-in and plan to include it in a future version of Media Center (no details yet).
Welcome, Jamie.

Looks like a win-win! Great news!
-
The PN plugin is a very large part of this program... Congrats to JRiver and Jamie!!
-
That is wonderful and exciting! Thank you JRiver and Jamie!
-
Very very good news.
Maybe some tighter intergration with Last.fm data/radio?
-
Cool!
Maybe we will see some new features too.
Like adding 'related' songs to Playing Now based on what's playing.
-
Awesome!!
I seem to remember PlayingNow was going to get a capability to update Ratings from a remote client (i.e. Playing Now on the client would contact PlayingNow on the Server and the Server copy would make an update the library).... I hope that gets added to the list!!
Last.Fm would be great plugin!!!
-
Hi All,
FYI I should have a beta version of the dedicated last.fm plugin available in the next couple of days. It would have been today except I am building my new PC.
I will make an announcement here when it's available.
-
Congratulations to Rhino and JRiver. That's excellent news.
-
Rhino....
Can you comment on whether the last.fm submissions will be sent for songs played via the MC interface, clients connected to UPNP server, and portables when sync'd with MC (particulary the ipod variants)?
-
Congrats to all! :D

Anything which MC reports is the current playing track will be submitted, as long as it passes the "valid" file type pattern match.

OK, I'll bite.
What is "last FM" and how does it work? Why the interest with J River? Sounds like people are excited but I don't know why.

last.fm (http://www.last.fm/user/marko121/)
If your interest is piqued, don't bother with the plugin available there. It's buggy and will most likely cause you problems.
See this thread instead...

Wow cool, Congrats RB! Hope you made some fat dough! ;)
P.S. - I hope MC keeps the level of customization as Playing Now 1.3. Can't wait to see JR's version. Anyword if it will be the PN v.2 or is it going to be just utilized as needed? I'm sure it's a little hush hush, but will take what info you can give ;D

Congrats! Always loved this plug.

Is there going to be a difference between PlayingNow plugin and last.fm plugin. I am kinda confused about this. I have bought PlayingNow, the plugin for popup at songswitches, but will it integrate last.fm audioscrobbler?

Been a staple part of my MC experience for some time too. Let's hope jriver preserves the features of their new aquisition.

As it stands at this moment, the current playingnow plugin can handle audioscrobbler submissions.
Rhinobanga is currently building a seperate, stand-alone, jriver supported, audioscrobbler plugin.
You don't need both at the moment, but I guess there are changes on the horizon...

Jamies site is still not up, will there be a way for Playing Now licence holders to get a copy of the last version of Playing Now so we can back it up? 1.3x alpha was I think the last build?
-
All you have to do is ask. I will be working on my site this weekend, so expect it to be up soon.
-
Pretty Pleeeezzzzzeeee? May I have some more sir? (Sorry) I didn't know to contact you directly without your the site being up. An emailed copy would work for me josh@hugginsfam.com Thanks a bunch! I'll see if I can dig up the blue logo again for the blue site skin too! Hope all works well for you this weekend. Evil hackers suck >:(

Hey Jamie, Hope the hackers didn't cause you to much work...

My board is back online except the arcade section is not working, so you can download the latest PN plugin here: http://207.58.131.114/~mrblobby/forum/index.php?showtopic=4
Also if anyone is interested the latest version of the last.fm plugin can be found here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=35715.0

Thank for the 1.3 link. Great plugin
-
What's new about Playing Now integration? Compatibility with Windows Live ?
Yes I know : Last.FM plugin is available. But PN ?
-
What's the story with Playing Now...? Is it still a pay-for-it license? If so, where do I get the latest version and pay and all of that. Many of the links I've visited have been broken.
-
The latest version I found is v1.3.0.9 and can still be downloaded at the JDNET Forum, though is quite old (Mar 4 2004, 07:15 PM).
