Title: G-Force not working with MC11.1.190 (FIXED)
Post by: RobOK on July 30, 2006, 10:05:28 am
g-force crashes MC.  GForce v.3.5.5

Can run GF in stand alone mode and use MC as an input as a workaround, but that is a hassle.  GF as plugin crashes MC consistently.  Lockup and then crash.

Reported to Gforce developer via email, no response in a week.

Same problem with some recent older versions of MC, tried to determine a pattern but cannot.

Please try updating G-Force.

Thanks Jim,

As far as I can tell I am on the most recent version,  Platinum 3.5.5

I just updated recently and it was the upgrade that caused things to stop working.  I may or may not have an old download I could try back installing.

Any other ideas or information from the crash report?  Per a posting on the G-force board, i sent the developer a Dr. Watson crash report.

EDIT:  sorry for posting this in the wrong thread -- you are right that it was not really specific to 11.1.190 but should have been its own topic.

I am running GF 3.5.5 with MC 11.1.190 with no problems at all.

Have you re-installed G-Force?

(I have had weird issues in the past which went away after a GF re-install)

cheers

I did a total Uninstall of GF and re-installed GF 3.5.5 with no luck.

Then uninstalled that and went back to GF 2.7.1 and it crashes MC too.

I guess something else on my machine is causing a conflict, but I don't think I have added anything recently.  Frustrating.

Rob, it's probably worth re-downloading G-Force and trying it again.  Andy doesn't always tick the version number if he quickly discovers a minor bug that only affects 1-2 player apps.  I've definitely had versions of G-Force not work after a complete un/re-install, then downloaded the same "version" from SoundSpectrum and had it work.

True.  We've seen this in the past.

Thanks, I had just downloaded.  But I tried anyway and uninstalled it, and re-downloaded, with same result.

Is there any debugging I can do to confirm that it is a GF and MC clash?

I never got this to work, so I down graded to GForce 2.7 Gold.  This is the version before having the Toolbar that pops up.  It now works, but it is still frustrating.

No response yet from the GForce developer.

Hey RobOK, I have been in the same you boat you have for a couple of months now.  congrats on getting working!  I was wondering if Andy sent you specifically a new version?  I just downloaded 3.5.5 again, and I am still having the same problems, so I am hoping it has not been updated on the website yet, and might fix my problems too.

He sent me a new beta version, 3.5.6 b1

Look for his email on the website and ask him for the beta, I don't think it added new features, just bug fixes/stability.

Cheers!

Any way to get a copy of this build that works?  I just discovered that my Dell laptop at work suffers from this obnoxious problem...

Yeah... I didn't really want to get involved in the Beta process over there.  I love my G-Force, but when it comes to that I just want it to work (nothing fancy).

If you don't mind.... email me at
