Title: Complex renaming ID3 issue in MC 11

Hey guys,

I would like to do some advanced ID3 tagging, and am not sure if it's possible in MC (although experience tells me there will be a way).

I have a large collection of compilation albums, and one of my pet hates is seeing thousands of artists in my library, many of whom have only one track. I prefer to insert the name of the artist in square brackets after the track name.

For example:

Album: House Compilation V.2

Track 1: "Don't touch that dial"  Artist: Johnny Come Lately
Track 2: "The Morning After" Artist: The Wicked Witch of the East

would become

Album: House Compilation V.2

Track 1: "Don't touch that dial [Johnny Come Lately]"  Artist: VARIOUS ARTISTS
Track 2: "The Morning After [The Wicked Witch of the East]" Artist: VARIOUS ARTISTS

Is there a macro or a way to rename many, many tracks in this convention - other than by hand?

Current Tags:
[Name] Don't touch that dial
[Artist] Johnny Come Lately
[Album] House Compilation V.2
[Track Number] 1
[Album Artist] Various Artists

1) Rename files from properties: [Album Artist] - [Album] - [Track Number] - [Name] ([Artist])

will rename file to:  Various Artists - House Compilation v2 - 1 - Don't touch that dial (Johnny Come Lately).mp3


2) Fill peoperties from Filename: [Album Artist] - [Album] - [Track Number] - [Name]

will fill in tags to:  Various Artists - House Compilation v2 - 1 - Don't touch that dial (Johnny Come Lately)

Just a suggestion:

There may come a time that you need/want to use the artist field 'correctly', and it would be beneficial to have the real artist name in the artist field.  Have you considered using the 'Album Artist (Auto)' field for this instead?  If it is a compilation album, the album artist (auto) will be '(Multiple Artists)', but can be overriden by an entry to 'Album Artist'.  Then just change your views/smartlists/etc to use 'Album Artist (auto)' instead of 'Artist'.
