I have a handful of .dts and .ac3 files on my machine. The .ac3 files com into MP as audio, but the .dts files come in as documents. Do I need to change some setting to get MC to see the .dts files as actual audio files? They play fine outside of MC.
-
You need "DTS/AC3 Source" Filter and "AC3Filter" (or another decoder filter capable of decoding AC3, such as FFDShow) in order to play dts files in MC.
-
I have AC3Filter installed and configured to play DTS files - when I play them through Media Player Classic I can see that AC3Filter is indeed handling the stream. Also just downloaded and installed (copied to system32 and registered) dtsac3source.ax.
The problem is that files show up as 'documents' and not as 'audio' inside of MC. After setting MPC as my default player for .dts files I can click on them to launch them with MPC - but shouldn't these be seen as 'audio' by MC and played directly?
-
If you have all the filters, the files should be imported as audio. To fix previously imported file, use "Update Library (from tags)".
-
Weird - I had deleted the files from the library and re-imported them thinking that would re-read them.
Just ran update tags from library and they changed to audio files (except 1 .ac3 and 1 .dts file that are corrupt). Have to remember that one. Thanks.

Should be the other way around.
