Title: trying to understand Otto's logic...
Post by: marko on August 18, 2006, 09:43:46 am
if Otto's watching my main images directory, and I ask MC to update the image tags from the library, when Otto hears the call that file changes have been made, does he know he can ignore it, or does he kick in and start double checking MC's update tags work?

I turned watch folders off last night when I first ran into difficulties with removing a single tag from about 3500 image files.

I gave up with the update tags from library, turned watch folders back on, and now Otto's working overtime doing an "Import: Add file: Changed" on them all, and it's taking forever. Surely, if MC made the changes, Otto should be aware of it?

Otto should ignore any tagging done by Media Center.

Here's one little change next build:
Fixed: When doing "Remove Tags", folder watching could unnecessarily reanalyze the file later.

thanks. let's hope it works out:

22223922: Import: Process: Finish (17330500 ms)

:)

another thought:

if otto's part way through a marathon like that when MC is closed, does he pick up where he left off when MC is started, or does he go back to the beginning and start all over again?

When I look at the log file, "import" always seems to be building thumbnails.

Otto picks up where he left off.

If there are a bunch of files that can't thumbnail, it's possible Otto will retry each run.  Do you think that's happening?
