Title: Problems browsing images with library server
Post by: rpalmer68 on August 28, 2006, 07:58:02 am
I tried browsing my photo collection tonight for the first time using the library server and it is basically unusable.

As soon at I go into images, MC slows right down and basically stops responding. (task manager even says "not responding")

I think it might me trying to build thumbnails, but everything just grinds to a halt and I can't click or select anything. There also doesn't appear to be much network traffic, while MC is going slow so it's not like there is network congestion.

I am assuming the client is trying to build the thumbnails and is having to load every image over the network (most of my photots are a few MB in size) but for some reason is doing it very slowly. In fact probablky as slowly as when I try to rebuild missing thumbnails (taking 50 seconds per thumbnail).

Would it not be better for the server to build the thumbnail locally and just send the thumbnail to the client?

I also believe the client is not storing the thumbnails as every time I start the client the thumbnails are blank and need to be rebuilt. (This is for photos and cover art)
