I'm probably just forgetting a way to do this but I'm going to ask anyway. Since I use MC 12 primarily now, I decided to put it in here instead of the MC 11 forum because if the answer is a plug-in, there are less available for MC 12.
I ripped a CD and populated fields like Lyrics, Bios, etc. Later I decided that I wanted to rip it again at a higher bitrate. I ended up with 2 copies of the songs as expected. I didn't want to populate all those fields again but simply copy the specific fields from the first set to the second set. I couldn't find a way to do it.
I ended up doing it manually again, but how do I do it next time?

Assuming the files have the same filenames:
using explorer, replace the poorer quality files with the better quality ones.
open MC.
go to the album, select all the files and do an update tags from library, followed by an update library from tags. (remember and do them in that order)
watch out for Otto...
if Otto is watching the folder those files are in, he'll most likely beat you to it and 'update for external changes' which would not be so good.

Thanks marko, it worked great. Otto can be a trouble-maker sometimes. :)
