Title: remote controlling MC play from another machine on the network
Post by: Osho on September 25, 2006, 12:08:23 pm
Hi,

I recall that a long time ago (2-3 years), I used a feature in MC (I think MC 9 at that time) where one can control MC play (volume, track selection, pause, play etc.) from another machine on the network. It used to use some http://machinename:someport to control MC. Can anyone please remind me what is that feature called in MC 11 and how to use it?

thanks,
Osho

Remote Server   (Tools > Options > Startup > Run Remote Server on port: XXXXX)

You can connect a remote MC with a standard web browser if the Remote Server is running.

For example,

Remote Server is configured to use the port 6789 on a PC that has IP address 192.168.0.2.
The address in a remote web browser is: http://192.168.0.2:6789

Naturally you need to configure your firewalls to allow this traffic.

Thanks, I see that the port it says in the options window is :80. Is there a way to change that port to some other number?

thanks,
Osho
