Is there any way for me to be able to start looking at MC12. I only had a day or two before it was pulled the last time.
-
No. Sorry.
-
Hmmm....disappointing to say the least. I'm in the same boat, installed 12 when the board first opened and was never able to get it running, and then, of course, the public beta shut down.
Will this be changed when 12 is released final? I guess I can live without beta testing (and certainly you can live without me beta testing), but it would be nice to be able to try it before upgrading when the final release occurs.
-
No, it won't be changed. Sorry.
It's not because we don't care about you or think you're special. It's just that we can't start negotiating on a case by case basis. A 30 day trial usually works. If it doesn't for you this time, I'm sorry.
It's $19.98 to upgrade. The odds are good that you'll think the money was well spent.
-
Do you guys have only one PC?
We have about five in our home ...
-
You know what would be really sweet?
Check this page out on Microsoft's site:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/testdrive.mspx?showIntro=n
They're using a Citrix server and Citrix's web portal to let people log into a test environment where they can play around with Office 2007 beta. The end result is that the user gets to evaluate the software fully, with out an expiring trial to worry about. They can't do any actual work on it, so it's not like they can use this to avoid buying the software, either.
It'd be really sweet if JRiver did something similar.

AB, yeah, at the moment, only one machine in the house working, I just donated two machines and am waiting on the 65nm AMD chips before I build another (hopefully Nov 8) ). Timing is everything, huh?
JimH, lol. :o

Well, since I stand to receive personally exactly 0% of your $19.98 upgrade cost, you can consider me a at-least-somewhat-disinterested-third-party... ::)
I'd say Jim's right. It's worth every penny. Of course, I'm American and $20 isn't a huge amount of money to me (I'm not a rich American -- I work for a non-profit -- so it isn't nothing either). Then, of course, if you make $20 US per day/week/month then you probably aren't really in MC's target market anyway...
Still. It is pretty cool, and I think it's worth it.
(And, yes, Jim. (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=35982.msg245099#msg245099) I am in a pretty good mood today. It was my birthday yesterday and now it's over and I can relax.)

How about 1%? Would that work for you?

I have multiple PC's but try to keep my playing around with new stuff confined to one.
I will upgrade at some point in the next few days.
I don't think we are asking you to negotiate on a case by case basis.
You may however want to consider changing the 30 day period to something a little longer while in a controlled release phase. Now this may not be all that simple but is just a suggestion.

Title: Nothing Left To Lose
oh, And I Bought The Song From Yahoo Music
Something’s in the air tonight
the sky's alive with a burning light
you can mark my words something's about to break
and i found myself in a bitter fight
while I've held your hand through the darkest night
don't know where your coming from but your coming soon
to a kid from Oregon by way of California
all of this is more than I've ever known or seen
come on and we'll sing, like we were free
push the pedal down watch the world around fly by us
come on and we'll try, one last time
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you
and here we go there's nothing left to choose
and here we go there's nothing left to lose
so i packed my car and headed east
where i felt your fire and a sweet release
there's a fire in these hills that's coming down
and i don't know much but i found you here
and i can not wait another year
don't know where your coming from but you coming soon
to a kid from Oregon by way of California
all of this is more than I've ever known or seen
come on and we'll sing, like we were free
push the pedal down watch the world around fly by us
come on and we'll try, one last time
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you
and here we go there's nothing left to choose
and here we go there's nothing left to lose
i can still hear the trains out my window
from Hobart street to here in Nashville
i can still smell the pomegranates grow
and i don't know how hard this wind will blow
or where we'll go
come on and we'll sing, like we were free
push the pedal down watch the world around fly by us
come on and we'll try, one last time
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you
and here we go there's nothing left to choose
and here we go there's nothing left to lose

Hey! I resemble that remark.
-
I was unhappy when the trial expired, but thought enough of the new features and speed to buy it. I've haven't thought about it again until now.
-
How about 1%? Would that work for you?
With no strings, I'd take anything I could get, but I would guess that the %1 isn't going to amount to enough to sway my opinion one way or another.
Notice... I didn't say I wasn't for sale (that wouldn't be honest, now would it?). I just said that it'd take more than 1% of JRiver's take on the $19.98 upgrade cost for MC12. I could be wrong, but you'd have to sell a lot of upgrades to be even worth the postage to send me a check!
Now, if it was 1% of Microsoft's take on the upgrade cost on Vista... That might just do it. ;) ;D
-
glynor, happy birthday from a fellow Libran! I am hitting 40 very soon. Meh, just another day, eh?
-
Most everyone who is trying to get early access to MC12 is going to upgrade anyway - so the easiest way is to just pay the $19.98 & upgrade now.
