Title: Organize music files?
Post by: terrya64 on October 01, 2006, 09:46:25 am
Is it possible for Media Center to automatically rename the folders of my music when I change the tags.
I have my music organized by  Artist\Album\somesong.mp3. I'm talking about something like "organize music" that Itunes has. If so, can someone tell me how?  Thanks.

Select a few files and right click on them.  Choose Library Tools/Rename Files from Properties.

If you have "Directories" checked, MC will move files.

Try a few before you do very many.

That's just what I need !  Thank you so much... :)
Now I can delete about 3 other programs from my computer.

Why not call this feature "Organize Files" so that more people see it as a real feature rather than a tool with a slightly abstract (albeit clearly named) tool.

"Organize" sounds like something you "do". It's kind of a power word and makes you think about what will happen.

"Rename Files from Properties" does exactly what it says on the tin, but personally I would skip over it upon reading it, without really thinking about what it does. I forget how i found this tool. I would bet it was driven by necessity though. I can imagine I would have gone looking for it. (or maybe just read something on this forum and then found it).

Funnily enough i like the "Rename files from Properties" moniker, to the point.

Organise sounds fuzzy, there are many items that could fall under it, its just these "power" terms that i fear cos they can potentially do unwanted/hidden stuff.
