Title: MD5 Hashing Tools
Post by: GHammer on October 05, 2006, 01:30:13 pm
I just helped some folks here recover over 100 Gb of data. Would have been much easier if there were a way to tell what was corrupted and what wasn't...

I recommend these two tools for creating and maintaining a database of hashes for your media files.

One I have used for quite sometime.
One I have just started to use because it is much faster, nearly 3 times faster here.

Both are free, both are command line tools.

MS File Checksum Integrity Verifier utility (http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=841290)

As long as the file is not too large Directory Opus 8.2 Has a build in MD5 checksum, it will show up if you add it to the view scheme
