Title: Slow on startup
Post by: Mr ChriZ on October 12, 2006, 03:03:33 am
It kind of irritates me that everytime I start
MC it does it's autoimport check thingemy to make
sure I haven't changed anything since I last opened it.
This makes MC almost unusable for 30 seconds or so.

I'd love to be able to come to some trusting agreement
where by I won't do anything to my media folders while MC is
not open, and in return MC will not do it's start check.
Instead it will carry on watching the folders when MC is open.

It isn't autoimport.  Can you send a log?

Are you using a lot of podcasts?

Could it be a drive spinning up?

Ah OK, I'll do some experimenting.
I assumed it was autoimporting because
my removable drive always does alot of spinning
when it's happening.  Maybe it's a plugin or something.
Cheers
Chris

Chris, I see the same thing. Fast startup but you have to sit awhile before you can actually start using every feature. I believe someone said before they're loading what they need when they need it which is why it starts so much faster now. Even though I need to wait awhile, I still like its startup time vs. MC 11.

I am also observing some disk grinding on startup. I have Otto off. My guess is it might be checking for missing thumbnails.
