Trying to download MP3 encoder and Slideshow. Cannot connect to server. What's up?
-
Try using IE.
-
I am using IE. A box flashes on the screen, then another dialog box pops up that has the connnection info and times out. I just purchased MJ. Is there a way someone can send me Slideshow?
-
This is very frustrating.... I am trying to install MP3 encoder and it cannot (again) connect to the server. If there is any tech support available, please let me know how to contact you.
-
This is tech support.
Check your settings in IE. Your security may be too high.
Other possibilities are firewall and proxy settings.
-
I don't understand, why the poster needs to download the encoder... after install I simply get it with the setup. Is this a registered user only function?
Mirko, confused...

Still no luck. Tech support, how can I send you a screen shot? When I go to convert a WMA to MP3, it says the plug-in is not installed and wants to connect to download and install. It cannot connect to the server. I have lowered the security. I did not have a problem BUYING MJ, so why would I have a problem getting the plug-in? There are dll's in the jriver directory that look like the encoders, but when I go to install, per instructions, it wants to connect to download the plug-in. I would love to use this tool and Slidshow, but.... And I already paid the $24.95 for MJ. Can you PLEASE contact me directly?
-
Try MJ Help/Check for Updates. This is the only way we provide support.
-
same problem, "Failed to connect to server". I am inside a corporate firewall.
-
Do you have a firewall account? Are you able to surf the internet from your working place? Do you have a telephone number to call and ask which ports in the firewall are opened? Are you allowed to download to your computer? Does any software download anything ever at your working place? Can you download anything? Ever? When does it change? Do you have the name of the person who is in charge there? Call him. And tell him you would like to download something via http.
Only some of the suggestions I have in mind.
The guys (girls??) here are very helpfull and if the say they can't help you, then provide more information. That would be my advice, if I were asked. But, as always, I'm not ;-)

I download all the time from the WEB. That is how I got MJ in the first place. BUT it looks like MJ tries to connect directly, and that is what blows it up.
-
If you visit the web page using IE do you get the same thing?
If so, you have a firewall or proxy problem.
-
I downloaded MJ v8 via IE, but the plug-in's all have the same problem getting to the download server. What should my proxy's be set to? Why did MP3 not install in the install process? None of the MP3 encorders or Monkey are installed, but they show up in plug-in manager.
-
I can't help you with proxy or firewall settings. Check with your network administrator.
Using IE, can you see this page?
http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/downloads/plugins.pl?type=7&start=0&end=10&page=1
Try a download of the mp3 encoder.
-
I can see the page, but if I go to download, the pop-up box that shows the download status appears, and show the status is "connecting",then it times out and another pop-up says the connection failed. I can't believe that I can download the main product (MJ) and not plug-ins, unless the plug-ins are on some other server that has a different security. I have set my IE security to LOW. If I can't get the plug-ins anyother way, how can I get a refund for MJ?
-
Try a right click on the link, then do "save as" and save the mjp file to your desktop. Then execute it by clicking on it. Might work.
-
OK, Here is what I had to do. Right click and save the file that is only a control file that tells Download manager what to do. I opened it with notepad and copied the HTTP command line (minus some garabage) into IE and let it copy the file. Then I unzipped it in the jriver dir and used the Plugin Manager in MJ. It works :) NOW I tried the same thing on Slideshow. Got the file, unzipped the dll, but it will not load. It says "Only input and DSP plug-ins can be added".
-
Execute the mjp file by clicking on it.
-
It is a DLL.
-
The first file you get has an extension of .mjp. Execute it.
-
Jim,
Here are the contents of the file that I save from the Slideshow page:
[Package]
Name=Slide Show
Action=UNZIPDIR
Version=1.0.10
URL=http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/mj_data/plugins/slideshow.zip
[Action]
File1=*.*
File1Action1=COPY_VISUALIZATIONS
File2=SlideShow.dll
File2Action1=REGISTER
I can copy the slideshow.zip and unzip it. In it is the slideshow.dll and nothing else.
-
Harley, EXECUTE THE MJP FILE BY CLICKING (or double clicking) ON IT. It performs all those actions for you.
It's the only way.
-
Therein lies the problem. Download Manager cannot connect to the download server for some reason. That has been the problem all along. I was able to get the MP3 encoders manually and load them. There MUST be a way to get Slideshow loaded without using the Download Manager.
-
Disable download manager.
-
OR
Download package from the link in the MJP file. Then put them into the same directory...and change the MJP file to load it from your local harddisk instead of instead.
TADA ready!
