I always use Mp3 becasuse I know of no other...
There are the new wma codecs that are much more compact (i think 96 or less for cd quality)
Then people talk about orb or egg or something. If I am ripping CDs, what do you recommend for best sound?
Storage space isnt a huge issue for me...
Ideally< i would want a portable format (to be used on portable players) though dont need portability until 1 year or so when i buy a player (im waiting for the ipod thing to settle out and more windows competitors to emerge and lower the price)
thanks!

If storage space is not an issue, try Monkeys Audio (APE). It is lossless compression. You can store about 3 CD's per GB.
When you play it, you will exactly what you would if you played the CD.
