Title: How do you export a list of albums?
Post by: KeystoneCop on October 25, 2006, 01:52:41 pm
I think there was a way to do this with statistics.  I cannot find how to do this in version 12.    I do not want to export the entire library. just a list of albums that are selected.

HELP..  thanks.

I'm not sure if this helps, but it is what I do to get a list of albums out of MC.

If there is a better way, I would like to know as well.

Maybe use "~nodup=[Album]" ?
But there will be a problem if several artists made an album with the same name... I don't know if "~nodup=[Album],[Artist]" would solve this problem...

I have a custom field that uses [Album Artist (auto)] - [Album] as a calculated rule.

"~nodub" can fail with it only if the Album Artist (auto) and the Album fields are the same in two or more albums.

For example, it could be possible that more than one album have this value: "(Multiple Artists) - Best of". For me this is not a problem because I have already tagged this kind of albums differently. Like  "(Multiple Artists) - Best of Tamla Motown" or "Tamla Motown - Best of"

This field can be used with "~nodub" as a smartlist rule.

The current view in the smartlist can be customized to show only the Album Artist (auto) and Album columns.

Select all -> Right-click > Edit > Copy  can copy the visible columns to Clipboard. Usually I paste these lists to Excel for adjusting the layout before printing or creating a pdf file.

Edit: fixed "A have" -> "I have"

I found the easy way.  Went back to version 11.  I do NOT understand the reason to remove a good feature like statistics.  Maybe it will go back in in version 13.

You may find the link list in this post helpful (also with MC11.1):

I hope this is an unintended casualty of the new design and the feature will be returned.

Another question about album lists : is it possible to get a list of album with the average rating value of the album's songs ?
