As long as a song does not have cover art you can tell whether athat song is imported or not by the color of the 'music icon' in the first column.
Gold = Not Imported.
Blue = Imported.
Now in MC12 when the song has coverart, this icon is replaced by a small thumbnail of the covert art.
I like the thumbnail, but how can I see if the song is imported or not??
(Without rightclicking each song to see if the 'Import Into Library' option is available)

Add the "Image (small icon)" column to your view.

Yeah, I have seen that ...
It is a nice work around. For my feeling at least.
It would be much nicer to combine it in 1 column, would it not:
> Like greyed out covert art when it is not imported for example.
> Or twist the covert art 45 degrees if it is not imported.
> Combine it with a blue 'music icon' if not imported.
Yes, that would meet the MC12 standards!!

This was a hot topic a few weeks back, and in the end JR added 2 NEW columns in order to give us some new options. Many people have found that using the "Large art" column followed by the "Small icon" column (i.e. NOT the small "thumbnail column) gives them the best of both worlds. They can see the art (usually much larger than a single line), AND they can see the icon, which identifies the media type AND indicates whether or not it's been imported into the library.

Thanks J River!! The icon (with the PN position arrow) and thumbnail options was exactly what I was asking for. Perfect. Wishes do come true! ;)

Looking at the discussion it feels like a good compromise.
I will use the combination of the 2 small icons probably.
Maybe someone of the developemnt team could react on my suggestion for a combination icon .....
