How come my music server cannot find some of my cover art?
The art shows up perfectly in the PC running the music server, but the pc set up as a client will sometimes just get a black box for the cover art, with the following error in the log.
10/26/06 15:29:46 - Received request for cover art: E:\My Documents\My Music\The Kinks\The Ultimate Collection (Remaster) (2002)\23 - Come Dancing.mp3e.mp3
10/26/06 15:29:46 - Unable to serve cover art, file not found
It is always the same songs with no cover art. About 80% of them show up fine, but the same 20% get rejected.
Anyone know why?
By the way I store the album art in the mp3 and in the album folder.

.mp3e.mp3
that looks rather weird

I've just installed MC and love it!
I installed a copy of the demo at work and everything was great. When I installed on the machine at home that I want to eventually use I have this same issue. ALL the album images are black. The stacks show up so it's reading the cover art, just not displaying.
I've installed DirectX 9.0c and have the latest video drivers. Any suggestions?

Are you using a VIA CPU? We once heard a report that all JPEG's showed up black with VIA chips. (but obviously not with Intel or AMD)
-
Yes I am. I guess I'll have to consider alternatives and see if other formats such as GIF or PNG supported are with VIA
-
The problem is that MC uses JPEG internally for handling thumbnails, and the JPEG engine doesn't play nicely with VIA.
Since the system works well with all Intel chips after a P166 MMX and all AMD chips, we believe this is a VIA issue.
We have tested on some VIA CPU machines that don't have this problem, so it may only be the older chips. It's also possible that certain drivers (chipset, etc.) could fix it, but we're not sure.

Bad news, but thanks for the quick response.
I'm going to look for updated drivers when I get home and I'll keep you posted in case you're interested in this issue.
