Title: Nonscrolling Audio, Images and Videos Icons?
Post by: sbsp2 on October 26, 2006, 06:57:35 pm
Has there already been a discussion on the pros and cons of having or not having the Audio, Images and Videos Icons scroll?

I think the interface would be nicer if these 3 guys just acted like a 'toolbar' and stayed stationary (where they are now) and not scroll with the reset of the organization tree.

Thoughts/discussion?

I'm thinking there's no discussion because nobody's clear on what you mean.

Those three items DO stay stationary on my system. I imagine it's the same with everybody else as well.

for me it is clear what you mean.

when the tree is so populated that you need to scroll, the image and audio icons are also ´scrolled away`. when they would be static it could be visually an improvement.

i think there is something in it.

For a moment a tried to find out how a horizontal scroll bar can be made to appear in the tree, but then I realized that perhaps sbsp2 means the vertical scroll bar.

I don't see how this could be useful as long as the root items that look like media mode buttons are part of the actual tree.

If they were separate static buttons then also the tree organization could be different as in my mockups here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=36413.msg248948#msg248948

I think you get what I mean.  When the organization tree is full (expanded), it's a pain that the Augio, Images and Videos buttons scroll off the top and you have to scroll back to bring them back into view.  Seems like static, stationary buttons at the top would be more friendly (or a better design, imho).  I mean MC12 made them 'more important' (different than previous MC releases), yet they scroll with the org tree still (which is not kewl).

Ah, I get what you mean now.

Yeah, it might be nice, but it's not really the end of the world or anything. I guess I never really run into these problems because I really don't use that many view schemes and none of the ones I do use populate the tree.
