I have MJ8 on my desktop and on my laptop with a external hardrive.
I do all my ripping on my desktop and then later transfer to my external hd for the laptop.
At first there was a huge transfer of weeks of ripped songs. Eventually I added info to the tags on the songs on the desktop drive. I'm ripping using APE.
If I copy or merge the library on my desktop to the one on my laptop, will the tag updates cross over? If not, is there an easier way to update the tag changes other than a complete recopy? It would be over 100GB of music for a recopy, I would like to avoid that.

the file names and locations would need to be the same for anything to work.
>> It would be over 100GB of music for a recopy
that would only take a few hours, Do you Sleep?

;D
Yes, I sleep occassionly.
So if both installs are located in the default location on C: and my internal desktop hd is labled as E: and my extrenal laptop drive is labeled as E: also, and the files ripped are the same name, merging the libraries desktop merged into laptop, the tag updates made on the desktop will update to the laptop?
I was confused on this because I thought the tags were direct to the music file and where the file was stored.

I Can't answer your question As it is stated I do know
If you Have Files Like This
C:\My Music\Beatles - Help.mp3
And on your other drive you have them
E:\My Music\Beatles - Help.mp3
Copying them will copy over the files.

now that the files may be of a changed Size the stats in MC9 data base will be slightly off and the tags in the files will not be the same as the database. you can then update the database with the new file tags in the files this should update all the other info too.
