Title: Error on Startup

  ? not sure posting where i should.
have just reformatted computer. message is " There was an error detecting portable devices.The Windows Media Device Management (WMDM) subsystem could not be loaded. Without WMDM support, portable players can not be properly supported. Please run Windows update and install any updates.Also ensure that all necessary OS services are running."
updates are up to date - any one have any idea what's wrong???

Did you try updating Windows?  Run IE/Tools/Windows Update.

i think totally up to date - MC11 now crashing on startup
is now 1 am so i think might go to bed and come back to it.
make sure you guys do the right thing in your election. send a message to the white house i think  ;D

MC12 ok after download of security update for windows media but MC11 still not - do i dump MC11 - I assume i can run 12 without 11 ?

Neither MC11 or MC12 can see any "HANDHELD DEVICE" - if there is a solution I will reinstall otherwise itunes is ok   ?
