Title: MC crashes when analyzing audio
Post by: aatreya on November 06, 2006, 10:29:18 pm
MC crashes when analyzing a bunch of songs at once.  If I do them one by one, it's fine.  It doesn't seem to matter what format they're in, though it always seems to crash around 97% or so.

If it were possible to have MC analyze each song individually when it's added to the library, it might help avoid this issue. (see other post)

i had this problem once and it turned out to be a bunch of corrupt files. try isolating the files it's crashing on and see if that helps.

Just tested this on a set of 9,000 mp3's and it works fine.

97% on just the first song, or on every one of them?

It crashes about 10 or 20 songs into the process.  Again, if I analyze the songs it crashed on individually, it works fine.

Take a look at this thread for a few crashes caused by other hardware or software:

i had the same problem and it was one set of mp3's that was causing it - analysing them individually worked but if analysing several or a few my laptop would just turn off as if the power had run out (even tho it was plugged in). i killed the mp3's it crashed on, re-ripped the offending tracks and everything was fine after that. when i suggested isolate the tracks it's crashing on i really meant exclude them from the analysis. it took quite a bit of messing about before i got to the root of it.

it may not be anything to do with your problem, but thought it may be worth sharing.
