Title: [Announce] MC2Slim V1.3 now with Windows right click support.
Post by: Craig on November 11, 2006, 05:43:31 pm
MC2Slim is a small program that runs alongside Media Center and allows you to treat your Squeezeboxes as MC Zones and play your music as if they were a soundcard on your PC.

The program needs to be installed and run on the same PC that you use for MC but can connect to a remote Slimserver.

New features in V1.3 are

Support for MC12
Transport Buttons now fully functional
Added support for multiple MC library paths
Added setup MC autozones
Added Disconnect - Connect to MC option to enable closing MC without closing MC2Slim
Removed Squeezeboxes from All Stop command.
Remote Control Transport Buttons now fully functional
Added Direct Play function to allow right clicking media files and playing them direct to a Squeezebox

As usual, all feedback is welcome.

So presumably this in turn means you can control your squeezebox with NetRemote?

Presumably, given that you can use Slimserver with other devices (since it pretty much just outputs a stream) it can be used with plenty of other players too?

Rob,
I've not tried NetRemote but I'm sure that MeSue used it with one of the betas of MC2Slim and it worked ok.

I'm not sure about other devices either as I only have Squeezeboxes, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I'd be interested to find out if anybody has tried it.

Thanks for making this.  I haven't tried yet I just found this post at work.  I have been wishing you could do this for a while now.  I can't wait to download when I get home.
