For the past week or so I've been noticing that the download of the daily (often anyway) MC12 build has been a lot slower than it was previously. This has applied to downloading it both at home and at work (which use completely different types of WAN connections -- my office is on a 20mbit fiber connection), so I'm reasonably sure it's not just my ISP being flaky.
Today, I actually had a lot of trouble with the download timing out. It actually took me about 4 tries before I was able to successfully grab a copy of the build.
I'm also a little extra suspicious because my "trouble" started just about right after this conversation happened... (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=36467.0)
Anyone else noticing it? Are you doing any new load balancing or bandwidth saving at JRiver (if so, then I think you might be being a bit aggressive)?

Don't think anything is going on here, but we'll check.
-
We've never throttled the download bandwidth (so a download manager won't make it faster by breaking it into multiple streams).
If you are seeing a slow download I'm thinking it must be related to the properties of the CoLo. I'll do some offsite testing from several locations to see if I can duplicate the problem.
Thanks for the feedback...

There was something odd going on last night but it looks to be gone this morning. If you notice it again please let us know...
-
Seems to be working well from the office this morning!
-
Not had any problems here.
Although something has always throttled the JRiver downloads for me
to 50kb/s. No matter which ISP i'm using or which part
of the UK I'm in, so I'm guessing it's something between
us and the server...
Using Freedownload manager I get 200kb/s.
Don't get it on any other downloads, from America or otherwise.
I'd imagine Marko see's the same thing?

The speed is normal, about 70 KB/s. This is what I usually get here in Finland.
Out of curiosity I tried how "far" jriver.com is from my address. JRiver appears to be quite close.
This building is connected with fiber and I have almost direct connection to the international network. The "se.eunetip.net" address is already out of Finland (in Sweden).

No problems to speak of tonight. I'm slightly suspicious that my problems last night may have been PeerGuardian-related. It didn't seem to be blocking it tonight though...
I actually just started using Free Download Manager which is pretty nice (and actually does speed up downloads quite a bit). ;D
