In the tag window I still get caught out occasionally when i click on a album thumbnail and see 0 stars highlighted in the tag window. Please change the display to show "varies" or and average rating.
I hate seeing empty ratings so i usually rate everything to 3 stars until i decide which are the better tracks on the album. I am used to just mass tagging all newly imported songs (o stars) to 3 stars, and i keep accidentally doing this for my tagged and rated albums too.
