I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RX770 with Windows XP OS.  MJ is doing everything I want to do EXCEPT burn my files to my CD-RW drive.
I keep getting an error message that says:

Error#  1002 Error data is:  KEY: 2ASC:4ASCQ:8

Everything seems to go fine until it actually starts the burn process.  Then I get the error msg and my disc becomes unusable.

I've read and tried the part about the adaptek and aspi but it seems I'm doing something wrong.  SONY offers no solution.

Please help!

Could you post your system info here (it's available on the MJ help menu). If you have a current MJ version, you shouldn't need the aspi software as long as "use internal aspi layer" is checked on the cd writer settings page. Try unchecking the "use generic driver" checkbox and see if it works better. Also, try a lower burn speed and check the "test mode" box to avoid ruining CD's until you find a setting that works.
Does the error occur immediately when the burn process starts, or a little ways into the burn process? Make sure you're using a new, blank, non-formatted CD.

I've tried lower burns speeds and run in test mode.  The error occurs pretty much immediately.

Could I have screwed something up trying to download those adaptek files??

Can you burn a CD outside of MJ using the built in XP burning software?

Yes- To do what I want I have been using MJ's sound recorder--which I really like---to download my old and irreplaceable cassettes to my hard drive.  MJ is doing a great job of that.  Then I have those files transfered to Windows Media Player which will burn to my CD-RW drive. That program works fine.  But it's a hassle to always transfer those file to the Media Player.  I've burned many CD's but none from directly from MJ.

I know the actual steps to uncheck the box--what I mean is my box is locked in the checked postion.  What do I do to "unfreeze" that box so I can uncheck it???

Please see the FAQ here and install ASPI.
