Title: single source streaming thru whole house.
Post by: jconde on November 23, 2006, 01:49:01 pm
I am trying to come up with a way to stream one source to all my media center installed PCs at the same time.  I have not been able to figure this out.  Basically I want to start playing music on the primary PC (the one with library server running) and I would like to connect the other PCs and have them play the same music real time.  Can this be done?

Thanks for yoru help.

I think the only possibility would be my solution: to use one master sound card and use cables to transport the digital or analogue outputs from that to the inputs on the sound cards in the other computers. The you'd still be able to run individual music on all computers just by muting the input and using MC on them.

I also have my audio out split and hardwired like Mastiff (serving two different amps) and multiple NetRemote clients to control MC.  I did play a bit with Tonecast and did have it workling.  I have to assume there would be some kind of delay with tonecast...

I think there are delays with all solutions except for direct wiring, which is why it won't work if there's any overlap at all between zones. Standing in the middle and getting only a few milliseconds delay on one side will drive you nuts!
