Title: Rip failed aspi error ??
Post by: sch phase on November 26, 2006, 04:18:49 am
Hi All
Using 11.201, no problems usually, come to rip a cd and it fails the last 3 tracks, with an error message bottom left "failed to rip aspi error".
Only new thing I have done is run a clean up program tuneup 2006
Is it coincidence? more to the point anyone got an ideas how to fix the rip problem.
Or could it be the cd at fault as it was a copy ??
Will try with a proper cd when back home

I use that program also and have no problems with MC12, and never had a problem with MC11

it maybe helpfull for you to go to help in mc and allow mc to copy your system info to the clipboard and post it in your next message.

I know one of my DVD Burners works with one DVD type and the other (a newer drive) works with all dvd types.

you could also try other burning programs like nero and easy cd creator to see if you can burn with them.

I get this error when I try to rip Coldplay's "X & Y" album using my TDK dvd drives. It fails on track 11, which is co-incidentally, the 3rd last track on that album.

If I take the cd through to my test pc which has an old plextor 16x cd writer, all 13 tracks rip just fine. This is the only cd I own that I have a problem with, so I just let it slide. I've no idea why the TDK drives won't rip the entire cd.

if it is, it doesn't say so on the cd case nor on the disc itself, but there's definately something up with it.

The Coldplay X&Y disc is copy protected (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060102-5877.html).  They don't have to print a warning on the CD packaging (though they should since those discs don't conform to the CD standard).  Capitol Records got so much slack for the insert they used to include that I believe they stopped including it (rather than just get rid of the DRM of course).

CloneCD (http://www.cdfreaks.com/software/CD--DVD-Duplication-Software/Slysoft/Clone-CD.html) can handle it with aplomb if your reader drive is able to do it.

Here's a nice thread on CDFreaks that tells all about it: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=46159
