Title: Media Center 12 Final
Post by: kayleigh07 on November 26, 2006, 04:10:02 pm
Hey people, I have been seeing beta versions of Media Center 12 popping up on www.softpedia.com but I want to know when the final release of Media Center 12 will be coming out. I just can't wait. I am new to this forum but I have been using Media Jukebox for a couple years now and I started using Media Center 11 for a good while now and it has worked good for most of the time. I love it but I want a new version of Media Center! Media Center 12 Final...where are you at?!

Normally Media Jukebox And Media Center Stays In Beta For Some Time, But That Is Not Always True.

I have Never Seen JRiver Announce When A Finale Release Will Happen In The 6+ Years I have Been Hanging Around.

I would suggest you don't wait for the final release.  MC12 is very stable right now.

I was using MC11, and started using the beta a number of months back.  About 1 month ago I totally switched over to MC12.  I even un-installed MC11.  I have no regrets.  Many MC users have done the same.

As KingSparta mentioned, you will not be able to find out when MC12 will become standard.  Those that talk, don't know.  Those that know, don't talk.  So you can either go with the beta version or continue monitoring their site until it becomes standard.

Hey Magic_Randy thanks for the info. But is MC12 Beta available for use as something like a demo? can you use the program with limited features or is it strictly a trial run? I would like to know because you said you have been using it for a while now and have stopped using MC11. I want something I can use for a good amount of time. Please state how you use the MC12 Beta program. Peace out!

yes, For 30 Days

It Is Not Limited In Use

This latest build (usually safe) of MC12.0 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/MC12/MediaCenter120118.exe (http://ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/MC12/MediaCenter120118.exe)

Hey KingSparta what do you mean by

"yes, For 30 Days

It Is Not Limited In Use"

Is it available for use after 30 days and if so are the features limited after that or can you do everything still? Please explain more clearly! Explain in full!

ARe you sure they pulled 12.0.119 because I just went to [deleted] and they still had it and I even downloaded it. Maybe you mistook it for another version. Peace out!

This latest build (usually safe) of MC12.0 is here:
<build pulled to investigate image tagging issues>

12.0.119 (11/22/06)

1. Fixed: Playing files with internal art could stack images in the temporary folder until the program was closed.
2. Fixed: Adding a large number of files to a data disk burn would freeze MC for an extended time.
3. Fixed: Folder renaming for a data disk burn wasn't working correctly.
4. NEW: When emailing log files (Help > Logging...), both logs are placed in a single zip file.
5. Fixed: "Burn Disc" start page didn't have a border on the Data Disc name field, making it hard to read.
6. Fixed: "Burn Disc" start page would be too tall in data mode.
7. Fixed: In some Action Window pages, controls could draw with black backgrounds in certain cases.
8. Changed: In a new library, "Camera" is a default search field.
9. NEW: During image playback, the next and previous image are preloaded in a background thread for near-instant image switching.

Just look at the top message in the forum

Thanks KingSparta, I guess I was wrong. But why does [deleted] still have it posted as if it still were up? How long will this pull last and did they pull it because they are finally or are about to put up a better beta or the final version? What is really going on? Please reply as I value your input. Even if you dont know for certain tell me what you think is going on! Peace out!

kayleigh07 - the only supported place to get Media Center 12 is here in this forum. Other sites may download it and make it available, but these are not official in any sense, and in fact, when something like today happens (where we needed to pull the build to investigate), the other sites are not a good place to download.

They Normally Put Out A Few Builds Out Each Week.

Sometimes Daily.

Most Of The Time They Are Stable, Without Major Problems.

I Am Using 12.0.119, but i have not attempted to do any tagging of images.

If you are scared of using a beta you should just let other use and install it first. and when there is no major reports within the next 6 hours after a release, then it maybe safe.

the only major event that was bad was back from mc9 to mc9.1 when full skinning was added (that has been many years ago).

I think if you buy now a MC12 license is issued, and it works on MC11.1 and MC12

John Gateley, above works for JRiver

Thanks for the info guys. Please alert me when a good beta or final release comes out. I really like the program but I don't want betas just final versions.  Just let me know when a good version or the final thing is out.

I'll add an alarm to my telephone, alerting me every day to check if there is a stable version. If so, phone you and inform you. I'll make my mother do the same, so if anything should happen to either of us, the other may still deliver the message. After all, what else more important could I possibly have to do...?

So sorry, could'nt help it. It had to be said...

June-July  of the year, been that way for the last four versoins. Note that its mostly showstopper bug free at this time, after that only minor bug fixes. At this point they start to work on the next version. Just look at the previous version 11, i think last build was a month or so back. Thats about as final as it gets.

What are the chances they change a working process...not much me thinks.
