Title: EXT3 compatible file names
Post by: jgourd on November 27, 2006, 07:43:38 am
Many of my files that were renamed using the "Rename Files From Properties" feature contain high ASCII characters. When I store these MP3s on my Linux file server the names change such that the high ASCII chars. end up being underscores.

Somewhere in MC we need to have an option to clean up filenames for Linux compatibility.

I may be wrong, but there was a similar problem that was a bug in Samba.

What do you use to mount the Linux server as a Windows drive?

Samba is running on the server. It is actually one of those little Linksys NAS units that take external USB drives.

It's a NSLU2 issue. I think you should change character encoding from Linksys's web interface in order to get your filenames work right.
