I'm using a licensed build 118 and am getting a critical error upon hitting F1 or Help/Contents that shuts down MC completely. I have the previous and current log files saved if they would be of value. Anyone else getting this error?

no, but maybe i never did use the help in 118, with the daily new versions i cant remember. it workes in 120 for me.

No
But since that pulls up a browser window, for the help it may have something to do with your browser, browser settings.
you may want to use the, Tools, Internet Options, Delete temp files To see if it helps.

good thought. I upgraded to 120 and the error is no more, but I'll keep the temp files suggestion in mind. thanks,
