The goal is to convert any video that you can play in DirectShow.

A video that you do not have DirectShow filters for, and rely on Quicktime or Real engine to play cannot be converted.

I've just got to ask...

iPod-compatible MP4 conversion would be, I'd guess, much more useful to most people than WMV.  Plus, I'd use this feature if we could get even reasonably complete support for x264 High-Profile encodes comparable to what Nero or AutoMKV provides, as well as XviD AVI support.  As is, I won't use it, as WMV isn't really my cup of tea.

Assuming it's kept, where is this feature going?

This is the goal. We just have not figured out how yet.
