For some reason, MJ crashes my whole computer after about 40 seconds of trying to record from a tape deck. (Not even Ctrl|PLS|Alt|PLS|Del will resurrect it). The tape deck goes to the line-in on my SB Live! sound card.
On a side note, it seems like I have to turn my tape deck way up for the sound card to hear it.
Recording off the web seems to work fine, though. I don't understand why recording from a tape deck wouldn't work equally well.
Any ideas?

Not sure what the problem is. Please post your system info here (it's available on the MJ help menu). Which format are you encoding to? Try wave and see if it behaves differently. Plenty of disk space? Try upgrading sound card driver? Shut down other programs during recording (including background tasks like backup programs, virus scanners, screen savers, etc.).
Let us know...

OK, I had the encoder set to "external encoder". When I changed to windows media, it worked! Yay!
However, I'd like to use an MP3 encoder. Why isn't it included in MJ? Anyway, any suggestions on one to download? Do I have to install it somehow?
Thanks for you help!!

OK, I found the encoder download. Thanks.
