Would it be useful? I have some videos where MC haven't built any thumbnails for some unknown reasons. Could be handy :) Or is there any other simple way?
-
I'm pretty sure that "update library from tags" also rebuilds the thumbnail...
in my experience, and my readings on the forum, video thumbnailing is not an exact science, so you might find MC still has problems with the yhumbnailing...
-
Since video files (mostly) dont keep tags, wouldnt that detroy library data?
-
no, try it and see :)
-
Marty did you try this in the end?
I'm intruiged. I still have problems generating thumbnails
for DivX files in MC12. About 50% of the time it works,
and 50% of the time it doesn't.
I tried Marko's idea and it didn't work.
Only remove cover art works.
Having done a search, there's a ragtail few of us
that have reported this issue over the past few months,
but most people don't seem to have the problem.
-
No I haven't tried any of the proposed solutions, my free time is greatly reduced right now. But I still have the issue, noticing it whenever I import video files...
-
OK, I think I'm on to something here..
Marty where are you're files video files stored?
All of mine are on a removable hard drive as mentioned before.
I assumed it was something wrong with my machine. My brother had no problems.
So anyhow today I tried hooking the drive itself up to my Brother laptop. (modern affair Pentium M/1 Gig memory etc)
Built a library up of my files.
This time the thumbnails did not build correctly.
So this breaks it down to either the drive or the files themselves.
We copied a selection of the files on to the main hard drive.
then built a new library. This time they built ok.
-
I have the same prob. as you people.
Its a 50/50 deal, with mpg on two diff. machs.
Files on part. F of main drive.
-
Hmmm... i've discredited my own theory.
By creating a small sample library with the files still on the removable
drive the thumbnails seem to build 90% of the time...
so it's almost like library size is a factor also....
Additional Note:
Just tested with MC 11 and it definitley does not suffer the same problem.
-
I hope file location isn't the problem, since I have my files (mainly avi, but some mpg as well) on the same computer as MC, that is, no networking or removable media.

I reckon there's a definite problem with MC12 here, I just can't put my finger
on what it is. Any information that would help you guys JRiver?
