I have been using MC12 for a while on my HTPC, and yesterday I thought it was time to upgrade from beta 116 to a newer version. But when I installed beta 125, I suddenly couldn't start playing anything! I tried to upgrade to 128, but that didn't help. What happens is that I see "buffering", and then the display just says 0:00 / 4:00, for instance. And it stays there, with the pause button active. The process is even impossible to kill with task manager, I have to do a reboot to get rid of it, and not regular reboot! It must be forced! I know that I didn't change anything else than upgrade MC, and when I started to the second partition, that I updated with an image just before I upgraded to MC 125, everything was working swell with version 116, with exactly the same audio tracks, both MP3's and Wav's.
Anybody seem anything like this? I guess not, since there's no hysterical threads here...

Yeah.... Definitely not.
Have you tried disabling all your Girder/NetRemote type stuff and testing it, just to eliminate those systems as a possible problem source?
Also, some serious changes (and issues) seem to have been implemented starting with build 124 (which was very short lived). 128 seems to have fixed my problems, but you might want to roll back a little further to 123 to see if anything is solved.

There's also this in the build thread for 128:
I have been observing that MC's GUi would not respond after playing several songs.
So far I could not fin any paatern ob what the cause might be.
I can still use MC party over the tray icon but I can do nothing when the window is open.
Any suggestions?
Sounds similar!

Interesting! Yes, I even tried to fire the thing witout any Girder/NR, so that's not the culprit here. Something fishy. I think I may uninstall completely and then reinstall. Only problem is, of course, that I'll lose the custom EQ and sound card settings that I have for all my zones. Two hours of work down the drain... Or can I just export the system registry settings for that? Then there's the possibility to go back to the image with version 116 and upgrade directly to 128 instead of 125. Choices, choices... :)

Before I do any of that, I'd try rolling back to build 123...

I doubt that this will fix the problem. My wild guess is that the registry is the problem. Renaming the registry keys might confirm this.

Exporting the registry keys should work. You generally only need HKCU/Software/JRiver. Most of the settings are stored there. You probably should grab HKLM/Software/JRiver too just in case, though you can't restore that set on a different machine or it messes MC all up (at least it did way back with v10 when I last tried it).

OK, I'll try that later today or tomorrow. Thanks!

Well, I restored the image backup from before the upgrade, and then upgraded to 128. No problems with that. Must have been a total fluke or a bad version (125).

I don't think it was .125. I had no problems with it.
