I am trying to install additional Track Info and Display plugins into MC12.
I am downloading and saving the plugins from the JRiver web site:
http://accessories.jrmediacenter.com/mediacenter/accessories.php
But when I go to install them using the MC12 Plugin Manager, it is wants to look for ".dll" files not the ".mjp" files that are only available to download and save.
I have even tried to OPEN the files from the web site and double-clicking on them on my hard drive to install them. In MC11 I had no problems double-clicking them, installing them from the web site or usinf the Plugin Manager. Now all of a sudden, MC12 will not let me. Ever since I first installed the MC12 I have had nothing but setbacks.
I've uninstalled my anti-virus , anti-spam, etc software. I've uninstalled MC 11 and MC12 before and restarted my computer as instructed. Then I re-installed MC12 again. I still have the same problems as before. So I'm a little frustrated at this moment.
I love JRiver's Media Center and wouldn't replace it with anything else. But right now, I'm half tempted to go back to MC11.
I'm using version 12.0.129 right now. Using Windows XP - Service Pack 2 on a Pentium 4, 2.2 GHz PC.
If anyone can help me on this one, I'd appreciate it.

Depending On The Plug-In It May Not Work Because There Have Been Changes In MC12
-
Well. I have downloaded at least 24 plugins and skins, all with ".mjp" extensions and none of them work.
I've read in other threads that users of MC12 are able to install plugins just fine. What makes my installation any differenet than theirs. Are they able to install a ".mjp" file?
Take for instance the Trackinfo Template file I downloaded.... "800.mjp". Can anyone install this into MC12?

I can't Find A Track Info Template Called 800.mjp

The Name Of That Track Info Template (Not Really A Plug-in)
Is Called "Best"
Author: Joe Lencioni
It Works.
Are You Using Microsoft Intenet Explorer?
-
Yes. I've tried it with versions IE6 and IE7. I just recently (last weekend) upgraded to IE7.

I think 800.mjp is the file name. Can you give me the name of the Track Info you are referring to and I can give it a try.
Also, I don't want to sound to basic, but are you activating the Track Info using Set Display? You get to this, as an example, by right clicking in the Playing Now area.

that mjp file you downloaded....
try double clicking it ;)

try double clicking it
Hey marko...
see my posts above.
I did try double-clicking it.
First I tried double-clicking while MC12 was running. Normally you would get a window that pops up that shows that it was installing. I get nothing now.
Then I tried double-clicking the file WITHOUT MC12 running. Doing this just starts the MC12 program. That's it. The plugin/skin is not installed.
I'm having a bad feeling that there is something corrupted on my installation of MC12 or a configuration problems with another program.

Magic_Randy
The Track Info Plugin I'm trying to install is "Best" (filename: 800.mjp).
Yes. I'm using "Set Display" to set a different Track Info scheme. The only ones I have listed are:
Dirt Simple
DJ
DJ2
Dreamstate
neoTropic
I can not get any others to install.

Best installs fine for me.
They should be in the following directory. Can you check here and see if anything made it that far?
c:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\Visualizations\Track Info
Each of the Track Info should be installed as a folder here. This assumes there were no overrides during your installation of MC.
You could also do a search on the folder Best to see if it is somewhere on your PC.
You could also check if it is in the MC11 Folder. That would be:
c:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 11\Visualizations\Track Info\Best

you can also go to tools, internet options, and delete temp files
sometimes this will help if your temp file folder is full in internet explorer.

I had another idea.
The .mjp file does not really contain the real data required. It is interpreted by the package installer to go get the data from a zip file. Following is what is in the .mjp file.
[Package]
Name=Best
Action=UNZIPDIR|SAVE_DIR_STRUCT
Version=1
URL=http://accessories.musicex.com/mediacenter/mc_data/plugins/800.zip
[Action]
File1=*.*
File1Action1=COPY_TRACKINFOS
If you look at the properties for the file 800.mjp file, you can confirm if the Package Installer opens that type of file. If it is another program, change it to Package Installer.

OKAY :) :D 8) ;D
I figured it out....
1) I completely deleted all Internet Temporary Files, Temp files, Cookies, and uninstalled MC12 including library files.
2) Then rebooted.
3) Installed MC12 again.
4) Imported my music libray.
5) Double-click on those ".mjp" files and WHA-LAH!!!!
All the plugins and skins I downloaded are now installed.
The only thing different I did this time was delete the Temporary Internet Files, Temp files, and Cookies.
Thanks KingSparta for this tid-bit of information.
Call it strange, but that must have been the culprite.
I don't even get the registration errors for two of the DLL files it was trying to install.
Thanks to all of you who have tried to help out.
-
Glad everything is working now.

Just mildly pleased to have it finally sorted then? :)
I'm happy you're happy too, and thanks for sharing your fix.

I think you could have kept the Cookies.

I think you could have kept the Cookies.
After all the pain and dispare I went through to get MC12 purring like a cat again, I got hungry and ate all the Cookies ... not leaving a single crumb to spare.
Thanks for your help though.
