Title: Should Audible conversion work?

I remember reading a while back in MC10 or 11 days that converting Audible to other formats was possible. I just tried this and it didn't work, though. My question is, should it work? If so, are there any tricks?

The reason I'd like to convert is that my new portable audio player doesn't support Audible files.

Audible files have a protected format, so that can't be converted.
