I have an intermittent problem when syncing iPods. I've only experienced it when I do a full sync. It goes partially through the sync (2% - 50%) and MC freezes. I have to kill MC to free everything up. After that the tracks already synchronized do not show up on the iPod, so I have to initialize the iPod and try again.
I've just done a full sync with two 5th generation 80gb iPods and had no problem. I tried another 5th generation 60gb iPod and it froze up MC 3 times. Finally I tried to sync it with iTunes and everything went through fine.
I don't think this is related to a specific version of MC, as I've had this problem before, but I'm using:
Media Center Registered 12.0.137 -- C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\

It happened again - this time with a small net change sync to the iPod.
I'm pretty sure the problem is some conflict with other software, otherwise many people would be reporting this. If anyone has any ideas of what could create this type of problem, I would appreciate the tips. Following are some of the things on my PC:
MC Plug-ins
Data Master
Lyrics Editor
G-Force
SoftSkies
WhiteCap
Norton Products
Firewall
GoBack
Save and Restore
AntiVirus and Auto-Protect
Uniblue SpyEraser

I've tried all day to sync one of the iPods. In every case MC freezes. I even did a complete uninstall of MC11 and MC12, and reinstalled MC12 to see if that fixes it. It did not help.
So for now I've had to use iTunes for syncing. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot MC would be appreciated. I'm not an iTunes fan, but it is syncing perfectly.
Also, if anyone knows how to keep the iTunes library current with the MC library, that would be useful until I get this problem sorted out. I can't find any feature in iTunes to monitor folders or fix the library. Maybe these features do not exist. I know I can add a folder, but if files are removed or updated, how do these get taken care of?

iTunes is really a step back, so I started thinking about what I used before MC12.
And it dawned on me - MC11.
I tried MC11 and everything works just fine. I'll do a separate post on my issue. I now think it is a problem with MC12.

Randy,
Can you send me (rick at jriver) the log files the next time MC freezes?
Thanks,
Rick

I have noticed lockups with 12.147 and 151.
I thought it was because I was running a bunch of background tasks (once burning CD, once decoding video and once doing a major file copy).
My system is dual core and even with one core pegged the other one seemed to be keeping up.

I have the same problem. Just bought a brand new 80gb iPod and MediaCenter 12.0.154 crashes every time trying to sync. Very frustrating.

There is another thread on this same subject. It looks like a fix is coming out soon.
