I reported this problem in 11.x a few months ago, but am still seeing it in 12:
On main PC running Media Server, my Verizon xv6700 PPC is docked via USB using the latest Activesync 4.2.0. Now neither of two remote PC's will connect. The dialogs that display on both are:
Locating Media Server...
Connecting to Media Server...
Cannot connect to Media Server...
... Killing and restarting MC/Media Server on the main PC does nothing. However, after undocking the PPC on the main PC both remote PC's can connect fine.

I have tried this, but for me searching for the server fails, flat out.... with or without PPC docked.
It doesn't even register on the server for version request.
On attempting to search the client reports the following...
- Attempting to Find Media Server ...
- Connecting to Server ....
- <timeout>
Entering the server address does work however...
PS. No firewalls etc to get in the way.....

This problem is still occurring ...

What is PPC?
Did you try setting Library Server to a different port?

PPC = PocketPC ... it's a Verizon xv6700, Windows Mobile 5, connected via USB ... Yes, have tried other port #'s.

What happens if you try to connect directly to the server (specifying the IP address) instead of searching for servers?
