And it looks pretty darn sweet... Even if it is infested with the typical Apple iPod DRM crap.

And some more pics:

Yead, but didn't D-Link have the right to that name? Anyway, I'll stick to my O2 XDA Atom PDA phone. Small, versatile and runs NetRemote to control MC. Try to get that fancy Apple wiget to do that! ;)

It was Cisco/Linksys. I don't know what the deal is with the name, but they announced it as "we're calling it the iPhone" so that's what it is...
Ars just posted a quick writeup: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070109-8583.html

Right, I mix up those Links...got both Linksys and D-Link routers here, and I knew it was something I had.

Has anyone tried to use a phone with only a touchscreen? even when the buttons are big enough to press with a finger you can never press buttons without looking carefully, unlike a real keyboard which you can "feel-type" on.
Although it looks amazing, and running *nix on it is pretty cool. (as it is alledgedly running OSX)
but I'll stick to my SonyEricsson M600i. It has bluetooth PAN functionality which means controlling Mediacenter with Opera is easy.
Just waiting for that slimmed down interface from our friend MahlerFreak, the full sized AJAX interface I'm priviledged to be testing is very slick...

This isn't a standard touchscreen (http://cs.nyu.edu/~jhan/ftirtouch/), so comparisons to previous devices aren't really relevant.
I'm withholding judgement until review models are available "in the wild". It will certainly be less "tactile" than a keypad style control (making "eyes free" use less easy). However, what it gives up in tactility it may regain in versatility, and you could conceivably work around the other issue with good design. We will see!

your still going to have the issue of having binary and only 1-dimensional tactile feedback.
compare that to even the ipod interface where when you are running your finger around the wheel, you have the boarders to the circle to assist in positioning and the interface inherrently requires you to look at the screen as there is too much information for you to remember. That is not the same as with a telephone. How many telephone numbers do you type in manually as it's quicker than finding it in the address book?
I am not saying this isn't a step forward. The demo videos look good, but not in the way that it removes the problems with standard touchscreens (lack of tactile feedback).
Apple has this much vaunted reputation of making great UI's, personally I'd say it's 50/50. The mac is a disaster, why oh why would you disconnect the menu bar from the application so that you have to return to top left each time to use the menu bar.
The apple newton could be said to be a disaster, ahead of its time or just being too adventurous, in any of those situations you could say it should have stayed as a demo/concept or in the labs.
However the Ipod is fantastic to use. OS X looks amazing and is very slick to look at, and you do get used to its quirks...
ok, I'm ranting... Apple is the tech industries blue eyed boy... and I'm not going to change that view
