Hi All,
I posted a topic some time ago (read below) about problems I have with Mediaserver running version 12.
I'm thinking about switching back to MC11 but before I do that I would like to know if anyone out there has mediaserver running using mc12 and is streaming audio on remote computers using 3 d visualizations (picture cube). Like mentioned below mine locks up after about half an hour.
Previous post:
I'm a MC user for many years now without major issues. I was using MC11 for my setup. My setup is one computer running mediaserver and several other computers in the house streaming music, video and pictures. Two weeks ago I made the switch to MC12. It ran for about an hour and locked up. Only one computer was streaming audio at that moment. After trying several scenario's I'm at a point I could use some advise. This is what is happening:
- If I stream audio from the mediaserver and the I have cover art on my display everything runs fine. I had this configuration running for a couple of days without issues.
- Now if I switch to 3d picture cube it runs for about 30 minutes and locks up. The message says that MC lost connection with the mediaserver.
-If I check the mediaserver it is still running in the system tray. If I select the option to show MediaCenter it will open, but as soon as I select any option in MC it will lock up.
- If I terminate the program and restart it, it won't. It will show in the taskmanager using 99% off the cpu power, but the MC will never show.
- The only way to make it run is to reboot the computer.
For now I'm running with just cover art on my display. No big problem just wondering if anyone is seeying the same problem.

That could be a problem with the video driver. Did you try updating it?
An interesting test might be to run it on another PC with a different video card.

I have tried this with 2 computers both the same problems. The strange thing is that the mediaserver locks up not the computer that is streaming. It worked fine with MC11.

Is the video hardware the same or different?
Are the files all the same type? MP3, for example? Any conversions?
-
The hardware is different, one is my laptop (just used for testing) the other is a desktop in the living room streaming audio. Both are giving the same problem after playing 3d for about 30 minutes the mediaserver hangs up. If I reboot the mediaserver the station continues playing. I have tried both remote computers seperate. I have a mix of wma and mp3 and mp4 files.

What images are you using for the 3D cube?
Can you run the test with only 1 client running for the entire period of the test?
In Task Manager, instead of Applications, check Processes and look for a Media Center process. Killing this might allow you to restart MC without rebooting.

I'm using jpg images but most of them are included in the tag. I run the test but will take me some time.
Thanks for your help.

I'm confused: on the photocube, aren't the photos coming from a playlist?

The images I'm talking about are the covers of the albums and I have most of them included in the music file.

This is typical, I'm running MC12 for 2 days now without a problem. Only change was that I upgraded to version 139 and I uninstalled the SQL server from the Mediaserver.
Thanks
