Title: Change base path of library files?
Post by: zirum on January 15, 2007, 06:56:56 am
Is it possible to change the pointing path of library files?

I currently have a drive with all my music. This is at:
e:/Music/Albums/**

I think this drive is about to die on me. Been getting "Windows delayd write failed", and copy issues.

I also have this folder duplicated beneath i:/our music/Albums/**

I think i have alot of tags i would like to store in my mp3's but i don't dare doing a full "update tags from library", and the replicate it to my nas. It might very well die while doing this. Can i change the path in the library somehow?

make sure you have a library backup before starting...

1. tools > options > library and folders > turn off auto import
2. Close MC
3. rename e:\music\ to e:\_music\ (the idea being to break the MC library links)
4. restart MC
5. select all files then right-click > Library tools > find/replace
6. press the select none button, then find "Filename" in the list and select it.
7. find e:\Music\
8. replace with i:\our music\
9. press OK
10. when the job is done, turn auto import back on if you need to.

Ah. Didn't think of that the replace also worked with path's.

Thanks a lot. Worked like a charm! :D
