Title: task bar app
Post by: tcman41 on January 16, 2007, 11:31:44 am
I truely love j.river media center but have never gotten around to getting some kind of task bar app so i can see the song title and track # without having to open up j.river all the way and then forward to the next song if id wish.

What is the best app to do this? i have seen things like this before but have always been kind of baffled by them.

Any help would be appreciated

TC  :)

Yup, playingnow is what you want. The opposite of 'taskbar', but I use playing now to give me this info at all times. It sits, always on top, nicely over the title bar of maximised windows, but not covering the window control buttons...

I suggest d'loading from here (http://207.58.131.114/~mrblobby/forum/index.php?showtopic=4) as it supercedes the version available on the jriver 'skins and plugins' pages.

Hi Marko,

Where can I find that l-o-o-o-ng skinny Skin in your post? I did not see it on your skins page.

Remember to consider the mini view.  Media Center's default mini view is quite useful and simple.  That's what I always wanted a mini view to be.

It's not there yet. too much stuff on my plate atm...
You can download it by clicking here (http://www.theganghut.co.uk/files/noire-tb.zip), but please note, it's designed for use on a widescreen monitor @ 1680 pixels wide, and you'll also need to create a custom, calculated data library field called nps using the following template:

if(isempty([number plays]),first time played,if(isequal([number plays],1,2),played once,if(isequal([number plays],2,2),played twice,played [number plays] times)) ~ last played formatdate([last played,0],elapsed) ago)  if(isempty([number plays]),,/(formatdate([last played,0],dd//MM//yy)/))

thank you Sir, you are kind and talented. ;)

I do not have a wide-screen monitor, but having dual monitors this does work (sort of).
Is there an easy way to modify it to 1280?

less space means less info.
let me know which items you can do without starting with the least useful. Bear in mind we need to lose around 400 pixels.
I'll try and catch you 'hubside' tomorrow evening.

There is also a plugin somewhere, which writes the currently playing song instead of ‘Media Center 12’ in the taskbar.

You can also control MC via the command line and create short cuts in that way . . .
