I have a strange issue with both version MC (11&12). I have no sound if I selected ASIO as the output mode.
I'm using an Auzentech X-Meridian soundcard.
I tried Winamp with ASIO, and wianamp->asio works fine.
I tried Foobar2000 with ASIO and it works fine also.
So what's wrong with MC and ASIO?
Please, help. This is very urgent since ASIO is a most for me. Actually it is one the feature that encouraged me to buy MC.
Regardless of the output bit depth and sampling rate

Driver? Try a search for asio4all.

Yes I tried Asio for all, same issue with ASIO4All.

What's your sound card and driver? Does your sound card configuration utility (if any one such exists in your case) show that you are receiving ASIO stream with certain bitrate?
I have lynx studio sound card and its configuration utility was helpful to me for debugging such issues.

Guys, thanks for the replies.
I submitted a support ticket to Auzentech regarding this issue. But What I find strange is the fact that Winamp with the ASIO plugin works fine. So does Foorbar.
Where I get confuse even more is the fact that my Creative X-Fi Elite pro ASIO works fine with MC.
ASIO4All is not working either with this soundcard and MC.

Have you thoroughly explored MC's options for playback?
Have you tried many different file types? Which ones?
Is volume muted?
Can you answer Osho's questions?

Playback is fine using Waveout or Directsound.
I checked the configuration utility of the card when MC is set to output through ASIO. The card audio monitoring status stay at 0 meaning the card did not detect any audio stream coming in. Which makes me think that MC is not communicating with the card driver when ASIO is selected.
I changed the ASIO channel offset setting in MC within the following range 0-32 at 1 step, still nothing.
No Volume is not muted.
Yes, I tried many file types. All my audio files are either APE, WAV or FLAC.
No sound regardless of the file format
One other thing I noticed is that ASIO4ALL caused MC to freeze.

Auzentech was a previously unknown brand to me. Google found the this thread at www.mp3car.com forum:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=91838. The thread has some discusson about the Auzentech X-Meridian 7.1 card.
It uses the CMI-8788 chip, which is probably not supported by ASIO4ALL. By looking the control panel screenshots (links in that thread) it seems like the included ASIO driver is always locked to a certain sample rate instead of automatically selecting the sample rate. I wonder if you have not set MC's output sample rate and the Auzentech ASIO driver sample rate to the same value.

Alex B. Thank you.
Yes, that was the issue. I downloaded Asio Caps from otachan and noticed that the AuzenTech X-Meridian Asio driver was set by default to 24-bit and a latency to 2ms. Changing the bit depth to 16 and latency to 4ms, fixed the issue.
Now MC is working fine.
Thanks for pointing me to the correct direction.
