Title: Smartlist Limit 1000mb = 991.1mb?
Post by: datdude on January 18, 2007, 10:09:23 pm
Why does it fall short so much?  If I remove the limit rule, it jumps up to 1.7g so there are plenty of files it could add before it hits 1000mb.

My goal is to limit most of my smartlists so that MC can fill my ipod as much as possible without going over.

Do you mean 1000 MB = 991.1 MB or 10000 MB = 9911 MB?

I tried this smartlist: ~s=1000 [Genre]=[Rock] [Media Type]=[Audio]
It finds e.g. 156 files - 993.5 MB, which seems correct. Looks like the selection is random by default because each time the list is populated with different files.

EDIT

~s=10000 [Genre]=[Rock] [Media Type]=[Audio] returns 1541 files - 9.8 GB

9.8 x 1024 MB (= 1GB) makes 10035.2 MB.

Because 9.8 GB is a rounded number I suppose the exact size is correctly just below 10000 MB.

WOW, nevermind . :-[

Forget all that has been written.  My laptop screen actually has 2 dead vertical lines in it that match up exactly where the decimal was and not thinking about it right (obviously), I thought it was 911 mb's.  DOH!
