I have installed MC 12 However MC11 is still on my machine. Can I safely uninstall MC11? (I was never prompted to remove it during the MC12 install) If so should I use the uninstall provided with MC 11 or Windows Add Remove programs? Thanks for any help

Yes. It's safe.

should I use the uninstall provided with MC 11 or Windows Add Remove programs?
either will work.

The User has a valid point, I sometimes install a new version of a program only to find i now have two installs, but if i un-install the older version the new install will no longer work.
Maybe this should be part of

Actually, the last few versions (10,11,12) of MC do in fact ask if you want to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one. However, I think most of us check "do not show this message again" and forget about it and of course MC never asks again - maybe we shouldn't be able to turn off the message.

Just to offer my experience here, I did have one issue with uninstalling MC11 after installing MC12 on a couple systems. The problem came when trying to play streaming links off sites like shoutcast. After the MC11 uninstall, streaming links stopped automatically starting MC12 in order to play the streams. I ended up having to mess with the Windows file associations, and in one case I believe I had to re-install MC11 in order to get MC12 to work in this regard once again. I posted some reports of these issues a while back, so anyone interested may want to search for my old posts for more info on this.

I was going to remove MC11 but then I noticed that the rating of some of the tracks were not being displayed using MC12 (OK in MC11). Also what I noticed is that for some of them MC12 initially displayed the ratings, as rated using MC11, but on later sessions MC12 did not show them...they still appear using MC11.
