I have Libary Server running on a manually set port with username/password authentication set up. I have this port opened on my router and forwarded to the computer running the server. I was able to access the server with MC client when using MC11. I updgraded to MC12 and am unable to get client to access the library server. Details:
(1) If I enter the IP:port in my browser (inside or outside my home network), I see the text below (without having to log in!), so I assume the Library Server is working.
[Home]

Remote Server v1.6, JRiver, Daniel Ellison, and Benjamin Sweet
(2) After using Library Manager to create a network library (ip:port) on my laptop, I try to load the library and get the following error: "The server is a different version or not a Library Server. Please update both machines...etc". I get this message when I am on my home network, and outside the network.
(3) When I stop and start and the Library Server on the computer that I have set up as the server, I see the following:
01/30/07 11:15:12 - JRiver Library Server Version 1.0.33 starting...
01/30/07 11:15:12 - Starting Auto Detect beacon
01/30/07 11:15:12 - Failed to start sharing
Can anyone give me some advice on how to get this working?
Thanks,
Lee

This is not Library Server, this is Remote Server.

Not sure I understand your point. Yes -- the webpage displayed in the browser says Remote Server, but I am running MC12 and as I metnioned in MC12 the Library Service shows me "01/30/07 11:15:12 - JRiver Library Server Version 1.0.33 starting...". How could I be running the old Remote Server in MC12?

Make sure you choose different ports for library server and remote server, and make sure the client is connecting to the proper one.

My bad. I didn't understand that there is another service called Remote Server for controlling MC via web browser -- that is separate from the Library Server. I had them both set on the same port and this was the source of the problem. Thanks for your help.
