Title: Problems with Library Server
Post by: Qythyx on February 05, 2007, 08:32:08 pm
I can't reproduce this. Would you try a couple of things?

1) exit Media Center on the server  (including Media Server if you happen to be running it). remove C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\MJ Server Library.zip and try again

2) Try a very small library (create a new library and import just a few songs). If this works, try to narrow down why the old library doesn't work and the new one does.

Start a new thread with the results.

Thanks,

j

I tried your suggestions and they did not help. In both cases (the full library and the small test library) the library download appears to complete (i.e., the progress bar goes all the way to 100%), but as soon as it is complete the error appears.

Any other ideas?

I'm a little swamped at the moment, but haven't forgotten. Check back soon...

Try the URL test here:

Let me know the result.

GetLibrary works fine, but still can't use Library Server regularly. In fact I used it for a workaround by downloading the library and unzipping it locally on my client and using it as a temporary library until I find a permanent fix. To do this I had to rename the file paths for all tracks to have the HTTP URL to my Library Server, but it worked.

I also tried upgrading to 164, but that didn't resolve it either.

Any other ideas?

This is a tough one. It seems to be related to your system - I don't know of anyone else having this issue.
It seems to be network related - it seems to be hanging after the library has loaded.

The only think I can think of at the moment is to do a network sniff and e-mail it to me.
Please use a very small library (single file).
You can find instructions in the Sharing Plug-ins section of the manual in the wiki:
http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Sharing_Plug-in_Debugging_Hints

E-mail it to me (gateley @ jriver.com)...

Hi Qythyx, I didn't receive anything yet. Did it start working?

Sorry, no it hasn't started working, but I've worked around it by VPNing into my network and just accessing my library directly. Also haven't had time to look at it more yet. I'll try 179 and see if that helps.
