Title: Apply smartlist rules globally to all smatlists/playlists on the ipod
Post by: datdude on February 05, 2007, 08:55:03 pm
It would be great to make sure that no songs of a certain rating or last playted/last skipped ever got transfered to the ipod.  I have many playlists and it's difficult to keep these out.

Have you tried setting up a view scheme to manage what gets sync'd to the ipod?

You would place all of your ipod playlists into the same playlist group, and also add an 'all audio' smartlist to the group to ensure that all tracks that you want to be given consideration to for syncing are included, and then use that playlist group as the first pane of your view scheme.

You can add any other panes you desire, such as artist, album, rating, genre...
Then it's easy to see what will be sync'd (everything in the first pane except the 'all audio' list) and also easy to filter the view, and add and remove things by simply clicking the tick boxes as desired.

It's a system that makes managing ipod content very simple indeed.
