Where are these settings saved? In the Library files? In the HKCU/Software/J River/ key? HKLM? Somewhere else?
I want to be able to easily sync the setting on all my machines...
Also, are the new View Layouts saved in the Library or in the registry somewhere (or some weird combination)?
-
The same question for me! ;)
-
Open the registry.
Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 12\Properties\Keywords
and in the right pane, look for the "Player Template" data. This is what you're after.
-marko.
-
I have exported the setting to a reg-file, but after a reinstall and using the regfile the settings were gone. ?
-
was MC closed when you double clicked the .reg file?
-
Yes, it was.
-
So, I read again from the top...
and I had missed this the first time:
Also, are the new View Layouts saved in the Library or in the registry somewhere (or some weird combination)?
I *think* that after recent changes, these are now saved in a library backup.
koolmees, if MC was closed when you imported your .reg file, then something is not right with it.
If you drop the reg file on Notepad, you will see its contents. Could you possibly paste them here?

Here it is:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 12\Properties\Keywords]
"File Location - Template Filename"="[Artist] - [Name]|[Artist] - [Album] - [Name]|[Artist] - [Album] - [Track #] - [Name]|[Artist] - [Track #] - [Name]"
"File Location - Template Directory"="[Artist]\\[Album]|[Artist] - [Album]|[Genre]\\[Artist]\\[Album]"
"Player Template Title"="[Name] ([Album])|[Name] ([Artist] - [Album])"
"Player Template Status"="[Elapsed Time] // [Total Time] - [Bitrate (labeled)] [PN Position] of [PN Tracks] [Zone]|[Remaining Time] // [Total Time] - [Sample Rate] - [Channels]Ch [PN Position] of [PN Tracks] [Zone]"
"Player Template Title (Alt)"="[Aantal Gespeeld] [Laatst Gespeeld] [Bitrate]|[Aantal Gespeeld] [Laatst Gespeeld] [Bitrate]|[Aantal Gespeeld][Laatst Gespeeld][Bitrate]|[Titel][Artiest][Album][Datum (Jaar)][Commentaar][Aantal Gespeeld][Laatst Gespeeld]|[Name] ([Artist] - [Album])|[Name] ([Album])"
"Player Template Status (Alt)"="[Bestandsnaam (pad)] [Elapsed Time] [Remaining Time]|[Bestandsnaam (pad)] [Elapsed Time] [Remaining Time]|[Bestandsnaam (naam)] [Elapsed Time] [Remaining Time]|[Elapsed Time][Remaining Time]|[Elapsed Time][Remaining Time][Bitrate]|[Remaining Time] // [Total Time] - [Sample Rate] kHz - [Channels] ch [PN Position] of [PN Tracks] [Zone]|[Elapsed Time] // [Total Time] - [Bitrate (labeled)] [PN Position] of [PN Tracks] [Zone]"
"Player Template Title (Stop)"="[App Name]|[App Name] ([Library])"
"Player Template Status (Stop)"="[Library] - [Zone] - [View Filter]|[Playstate] - [PN Position] of [PN Tracks]"
The text you quoted was not mine. ;)
-
Well, the reg file appears to be fine, leaving me a bit stumped, and wondering if things are saved differently when using a language other than english?
Do the alternative texts display for you?
-
I can't see if alternative display texts works after the regedit, because I've typed the texts from the notepad to the registry manually. But the display texts are working now. But the general settings are more important for me.
Update. :-[
I didn't read the original question well. For the settings I like the key is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 12
I didn't notice that Glynor meant the settings of the alternative text display.
