Title: Split Views *not* retaining layout
Post by: Gork on February 13, 2007, 10:21:22 am
I know this has been touched on before but I was curious if this has been implemented and I just can't figure it out.  And if it hasn't been implemented, are there any plans to do so?  I was really hoping this ability would be included in v12.  I am attaching a picture 'cuz it's worth a thousand words.

I use Split Views to set things up as is shown on the left.  I like to hide the pane on the left which includes the "action window" as well as the "audio," "images," and "video" shortcuts.  I also like Split View #1 to show album/artist info and Split View #2 to show Playing Now, as is shown in the image on the left.  But every time I close the program and re-open it the layout shows up like the image on the right.  I have to click in Split View #2, click on playing now then hide the left most pane every time I start the program to get things the way I like them.  Is there a way to make the program default to the view I like when I first open it?  And if not, is a feature to allow this in the makings by chance?

EDIT:
Just changed the subject a little to get my point across better.

Does anybody have any information concerning any previous mention of this behavior?  Or can someone else verify that it works the same way for them as it does for me?  Has anyone possibly figured out some kind of a workaround?

I have the same problem. I don't believe there is a workaround.

it's been asked for many times over the years and is not likely to happen.

Nice to see you using two views btw.
I am always in split view mode and most often, I have the view divider dragged down to the bottom, thus hiding the inactive split. It means I can load my image library in one split, and my audio library in the other and jump between them without losing my workflow location in either library.

Cool, thanks for the posts.  It's about the only thing in the software which didn't fully meet and even heroically surpass my needs and expectations.  I don't understand the ins and outs, the difficulties of such a change, but then you don't see me sitting behind the programming console either! :)  It's just an annoyance is all, nothing that I can't work around.

I started with Sonic Foundry's Siren for my MP3s many years ago.  When the company stopped development on that piece of software the best thing I could find was MusicMatch.  Perhaps there are other forum goers here who can understand my elation at ridding myself of that bloated buggy pile of junk when I discovered MC.  I haven't regretting filling the coffers of JRiver - I've been very happy with the software.  Even the beta version with the issues which are being worked out is leaps and bounds ahead of the best release of MusicMatch.
